I heard and saw Christina Aguilara (sp?) "sing" the national anthem at the superbowl. I've heard and seen Josh Groban sing the national anthem at the BCS National Championship game. What a difference! In the first place, what Christina did should never be done to this song (or most others, for that matter). She put her own style to it AND she forgot the words. Note: She apparently doesn't have any style if this was any indication. I never heard her sing until this event. I don't want to hear more!! Many singers sing the national anthem like this with their voices going all over the scale......what the hell is that, anyway? If that's what style is, I don't want any. And to forget the words? Showing ignorance due to lack of education may be one thing, but for a "celebrity" to go in front of millions of people and screw the words up to this song is inexcusable. Some people have commented that - it's a hard song to sing (I agree); she was nervous; so, she made a mistake - everyone makes mistakes. To which I say BULLSHIT! Yes, everyone makes mistakes - everyone is human (I think). However, this was over and beyond nervousness. This girl should think twice about the image she's projecting.
On the other hand, Josh Groban sang the national anthem (with Flea) flawlessly and the way it should have been sung - the way it was written. Josh Groban is a man of style, class, talent, and common sense. He should have been singing at the Superbowl.
